About Me

I am a married mother of three.  My husband, Tony, and I recently moved our family out to Waterman, IL to start a small farm.  We are thinking about looking for a new farm with a better set up.  We are renting to own but have quickly learned what we want and need in a farm.  Our plans for the near and further away future include goats, some horses, more dogs, maybe a cow or two (his plan, not mine) and some small specialty crops.

We have a 9 year old son, a 6 year old daughter and a 10 month old baby girl.  We also have 2 adult dogs, 2 puppies and a bunny.

We are new to any kind of farming and appreciate any advice we can get.

OK...well, I MEANT to comment on a main board or something...not to myself! I ran a support site but not set up like this. I'm new to this, too.

Hi! I'm glad I found your site! In on the ground floor, too! Thank you for your response. Like I said, we are new to this. I have figured out what goats should cost and I'm thrilled you are right where I thought. Now, I need to figure out some funding and get everything we need. Of course, I would love your help figuring out exactly what we really do need & where to find it.

I have learned about Boer & milking goats, but is there any profit with the other types that at least makes it worth having some...covers the costs? I love Pygmy goats & wanted to learn more about cashmere. Any suggestions? Info?
Thanks,
Sue
